This gem is red ruby and bright and presents with a feminine nose of lilac, soft leather, cherry and vanilla. In the mouth the wine is elegant and well integrated with flavors of dried cranberries, pink peppercorns, dill and sweet oak supported by a pleasant acidic backbone dusted with fine tannins and a lingering sour cherry finish.
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon came from sought after vineyards both in the peaks of the Napa Valley hills as well as the northern reaches of Calistoga. It takes in Cabernet Sauvignon from Stagecoach Vineyard in the southeastern hills above Napa, an equal amount from a small vineyard on Pritchard Hill in the center of Napa’s eastern hill range, and then a smaller portion from a small family vineyard north of Calistoga as well as the body of wine from Sam Brannan Vineyard where Silverado Trail runs into Calistoga. A small amount of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from the Brannan vineyard was also blended in. It was aged in second use French oak barrels for 21 months.
